'FAVORITE SUN'

COLLAGE
on paper with watercolor,
oil pastel, typo film

Another fisherman

Titled "BEGINNERS"

It's his first catch and the first time on land for the finned prey.

Watercolor over acrylic and transparent gesso.

'FAMOUS TOWEL DANCE'

OIL MONOPRINT
over random acrylic abstract.
On paper with watercolor pencil and typo film.

Just for fun...

When I shoot my pics of artwork outside,
it takes a while for the camera to adjust from the chill of the studio's
air conditioning.
Mr. Science says 'condensation'
on the lens.

Here are the oldest buttonwood trees through faux fog.
You can see their distinct shadows on the lawn.

'TRIO'

'TRIO'
is acrylic and watercolor pencil on paper.
This is a pic of print of same.

'TREE HOUSE'

'TREE HOUSE'
is very mixed media
on an unusual support.
I've made use of tissue glued to
an acrylic panel. 16 x 20 inches.

The tissue squares originally held
the gold leaf I use in my work.

I painted a bunch of them with tree/leaf designs. The acrylic panel was too scratched for display.

Metallic paints decorated with type correction film.

Details in gouache over abstract acrylic.

PALE PROFILE

My PAINTER 11
kept crashing so I reinstalled it
and
tested with this.
I don't really know all its tricks
(I should read the manual)
and just play intuitively.

I like it way better than Illustrator in that department.

Dinner view

Here at the house on Sugarloaf, Fl.
We are facing NE so we get a 'reverse' sunset as the light bounces off
big summertime clouds.
This big plume was so entertaining we took
our dinner out to the water's edge to watch it spread and fade.
You know it's off-season when there was not a boat, kayak or jet ski
the whole hour.

'Mesmerizing'

ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY'S
word this week is 'mesmerizing.'
These two met in a retro-shop
and
can't take their eyes off each other.
Just like me when I saw my
first Lava Lamp.
But after awhile they'd break down and look like old salad dressing.

'BATH TUB'

AT THIS POINT IN MY LIFE
I don't think I could become an animator.
But I really like to dip into blogs about
character design
and look at digital projects from
animators here and in Europe.
It would be satisfying to design a character
based on this big genie cooling off in an
asian lagoon.
He started off as three shapes: the big kidney form
of his body and arms, the knee and the head. Corel Painter.

post most regularly as animators and instructors.

Nathan Fowkes gives characters
worlds to inhabit. Click on the names to

DOVE

Just warming up in Painter...

I like the scratchboard tool ('pens')
for its variation of line.

Cha, cha ,cha

Sketchbook
with
digital tint.
I call my greyhound 'Cha Cha' sometimes.

'MYSTERIOUS'

ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY
gave its word!
And it's 'mysterious.'

Here is a hidden place where the
perfume of sacred flowers is formed.
It's a secret...

Sketchbook Express.

PICASSO COLOR WAY

MY FAVORITE PICASSO'S
are his linoleum cuts.
The background is similar to those.
I gotta stop ;this is my 6th drawing this afternoon.

PROFILE

THIS IS
mostly what I look like:
Receding hairline, big nose and ears
and lots of laugh, frown lines.
My favorite drawing from all the heads drawn today-
I went from looking too young
and too dark to the more laughing 57 year old.

HEAD

MY EYEBROWS
are nowhere near this dark.
The photos from which I'm doing these
sketches were taken by a friend
and feature grinning,whooping
and raised eyebrows.
I printed them out and they're on the table in front of me.

SQUINT

SELF PORTRAIT

IN PAINTER
drawing simple shapes in conte
then scratchboard pen over that.
My goal is to have a little self portrait
for this blog.

GIMME A BREAK...

'COTTON CLUB'

THIS GUY
is a monoprint line drawing (oil)
over random abstract acrylic background.
Watercolor pencil for design details.
