...but a nice alternative.

this fisherman
with his custom-designed catch.

I think of different common names for each fish variety
as I paint. I will make the final details to match the fish type
and paint their names alongside. One is going to be a "Green Glove" for example.

The mottled background used up the end-of-the-day oil paint
for a medium value.
The darkest elements will be the original bold line drawing.
16 x 20 on smoooooth panel.

"PERFECT" by David Scott Meier

This 11 x 14 oil on collage
flowed out of me.
Painting happy yesterday.

I rubbed out the first draft so there
was underpainting and palette knife texture
to guide me.

One of my favorite parts:

I've been looking at antique
Edwardian style jewelry on line.
Lots of delicate platinum and diamond
foliate forms are inspiring.

winner-take-all grin

Back in the studio
after my 2 day break.
A nice day as my commission,
has pleased the client.

Oil on Ampersand panel.
16 x 20 inches.

I painted happily the rest of the day.
When I squeeze out oils, I use the remainder
on my palette to start new paintings.
I'm working on 3 now, as you shall see.

The season still goes on...

Thanks to unusually nice folks
who made me laugh
on Simonton.

Technically Monday is a "day off."
But I had to varnish new paintings
in addition to my shipping.

Each has an interesting surface texture.

That's the "cookie star" he's wishing on.

For my cat-fanciers.
A little mixed media painting
on collage.

6 x 6-ish....

10 X 10 Oil on Ampersand cradled panel.

A friend gave me the title.

Alkyd oils are great;
they dry faster but still lots of time
to push them around.
