Isaac 2012

Windy before the rains begin.
Dazzling sun. Rolling water.
The little bronze faun
has been way under water in Wilma
but never budges.

IF: "tall"

...as an elephant's ball?

We are watching
TS Isaac.
We live by the 2AM Monday point,
when the storm should just be hurricane strength.

Our living room is full of outdoor furniture
and the gallery is buttoned up tonight.
A forced mini-vacation.

ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY:
"teacher"
is the word.
She has absorbed all sorts of knowledge,
in a MONTY Python sort of way.
She presents it to her students
in an entertaining and engaging way.

Bats again...

I miss the bats that first patrolled our yard
and kept check on the mosquito population.
After their eviction there are new predators: swarms of little dragonflies.
Very dainty and busy, they in turn are a food source for acrobatic
swallows that pass too
close to the windshield as we drive on Sugarloaf.

Sunday, August 12, 2012

I'M
on a Brit' jag now.
We're watching older PBS
docu-dramas and
travelogs of great English houses.

I've been playing with glass enamels
and decided to make up
some architectural forms
on Wedgewood blue backgrounds.

I painted 8 of them....

The enamel lines are thick.
You don't notice the quality by the time the
(BIG) glasses are drained.

The flower form goes with
some antique plates, also English,
which are painted with fine designs.
They must have used mouse whiskers!
