DO YOU LIKE CLOUDS?

WE do!
This was my cloud I followed home from work last week.
The sun was behind me and others on the road from Key West to Sugarloaf.
No one seemed in a hurry to get home;
traffic was going slow to take in the view.

A very happy sky diver twirled down to
the airstrip before the rains came.

I knew Bill would be out with his camera:

this is his fav,' pic.'

It's been his screen-saver this week.
So he's loaned it to us all.

"GOOD" is best
but "BaD" happens sometimes.

IBIS design...

Corel Painter.
I love having no india ink on my fingers
after drawing.
This started out as three black blobs
and then the birds were removed with different brushes.

Red Headed Woodpecker

Woodpeckers knock the little round vents
out of our second-story soffit.

We dangle old CD's from the rough openings
to keep them away until something more permanent
can be arranged.

Heron

A heron drawn in Corel Painter.
And again with a little color.

Only the black and white version will be used in the book.

monarch butterfly

A monarch butterfly
for Bill's book.
Corel Painter has a neat-o mirror effect brush
to speed things along.
Some faux-scratchboard
around the edges loosens up the symmetry.

My procrastinations on this project have weighed on me.
I dreamt I was in my childhood's California kitchen
(with a childish Mickey Rooney!)
looking out on branches covered with these butterflies.

There are monarch butterflies there, too.
They are celebrated in pageants along the coast
and swarm by the thousands in Mexico.
