I.F. "NEW"

PAINTER 12.

After Ten Years...

This is the little sign that hung from the door at
SEVEN ARTISTS; KEY WEST.
We made all the art inside its wavy walls.
The street fills with other sorts of galleries.
Or yoghurt shops.

I have my little studio on Simonton at 316.
My next show is at
Frangipani Gallery on January 4.
Local art by local artists and no yoghurt.

3 Wishes by David Scott Meier

IMARI

I like the way his turban continues his digital count
of available wishes.

New Work

A quick (as you see!) shot of
"REVERSE SUSHI"
for my JANUARY show
at Frangipani Gallery in Key West.

Most boats passing our house have a dog on board.

Oil on panel; 16 x 20
and
giclee prints available now.

DANCERS in progress.

I'm working on new pieces for a one-artist showing in January.
When I clean my heavy
glass palette  at the day's end,
I make use of the remaining pigments.

Here's mostly Prussian Blue brushed out into a dancing figure.
I blotted it with deli'/sandwich paper
and printed two other dancers with the monotype.
Pattern is created and supported by a 'floor' of
flower designs from the remaining
alkyd oil.

The rag board is primed with tinted acrylic gesso.

More frames...

WHEN
I do my UPS shipments from
SEVEN ARTISTS
in
Key West,
I like to finish the grind with calligraphy
on the parcels.

Ms. Chiroff has saved a few, as you see.
I commented that the art work may not be
as archival as the frames.

Frames for the season...

I like to work with
here's another batch of 16 X 20's
for my show at
in Key West.

Busy, busy but grateful....

Two in the trees....

THESE
two orchids will greet our guests

Unless some iguana sneaks the flowers onto his menu.

Green-fingered Bill is to be congratulated.

OF NOTE:
that black plastic band on the palm tree
keeps the iguanas from climbing
to
delicious orchids.

Those who follow Jimmy Buffett's
tunes and island lifestyle are
"PARROT HEADS."
Here's a nod to those rummy tourists!

"SUN WORSHIPPER"

(or 'Franita' as I call her)
has asked me to join her stable of artists
and
will give an exhibition of my new paintings
in January of 2013.

Seen above is a detail of one of the new oils.
Below, another a detail from the same panel.

NEW STUDIO- new post

I Have
a new studio.
Smally wedged between
the
PELICAN POOP
(where Hemmingway stayed in the 30's)
and the nice folk
in a custom t-shirt shop.
It has a palm tree in front of its 700 square feet.

Obsolete wording on its blue awning
indicates I have tourist info. and maps of Key West.
This is not so. I have a work table and
a thermos of green tea and Cuban tile floors.

I have a new front door whose glass
is polished daily as one would detail a new car for
the first week.
My redwood sign is an artifact from
my gallery/studio in Laguna Beach, CA.
People that stop for maps occasionally remain to look at my work.
I've had a sale!

All THIS
in preparation for the closure of
SEVEN ARTISTS
and a showing in January here.

Zombie Bike Ride in Key West

My camera cable is on the fritz.
I'm painting but you wouldn't know it.
Others' cameras are fully functional as you see.

The 2012 ZOMBIE BIKE RIDE
was last night. Marky (top left) puts it all together.
It's a mobile party through Key West with more than a thousand
zombie riders
congregating along the waterfront and bars.

Fran Decker got lit up for the event!
I'll be working with her gallery in the new year.

Oil on collage.

In Leaves....

A third from the series.

I used a brayer to roll most
of the texture out of the tissues.
The little white leaf is type correction film.

Bird collages

Another in the series.

Oils on acrylic tissues.

Collage with oils... Bird couples.

A new series of collages of
acrylic tissues (deli wrap!)
and oil on acid-free foam core.

You can really see the texture on this first.

DO YOU LIKE CLOUDS?

WE do!
This was my cloud I followed home from work last week.
The sun was behind me and others on the road from Key West to Sugarloaf.
No one seemed in a hurry to get home;
traffic was going slow to take in the view.

A very happy sky diver twirled down to
the airstrip before the rains came.

I knew Bill would be out with his camera:

this is his fav,' pic.'

It's been his screen-saver this week.
So he's loaned it to us all.
