This is one of my favorites.
In this first stage it looked like
an old tile.
The glossy oils shine like ceramic.
It has changed a bit since this!

THIS IS

the initial sketch design.
it's already changed  in texture and color.

Get Happy...

YOU KNOW WHAT
makes me happy
and makes time disappear?

PAINTING!
I'll be posting a
rooster series the next few days.
Glossy wet oils on collage.

In town....

Today is my day "off."
Laundry is spinning;
toast is toasting
and Tulip has had two walks in the bright
beautiful day.

In town,
in front of the studio
there's the commotion of
construction on
Simonton.
The municipal archaeologists
have unearthed
the old brick streets of Key West.

I am out of the dust
behind my studio door
at number 316.

Snowflakes and palm trees.

"EXPLORERS"

"EXPLORERS"
16 x 20 inches;
oil on canvas.

I just paint and let the composition emerge.
This one is nearly a four-paned window on a marsh, isn't it?
The repetition of 2 yellow color blocks
and the sail shape (diagonals) help break the grid.

This painting was just delivered to my neighbors' wunder-house;
it couldn't be in a nicer, friendlier home.

Handmade wrapped mats....

Today is...

a day to make wrapped, acid-free mats.

Collages of print scraps
around 5 x 7 inch openings.

A warm day with few visitors so I can play.
The collages are rubbed down with acrylic and gesso
then gloss varnish.

You can see some of my carved block work printing, too.
These will be used as secondary lining mats under rag mat board.
