this fisherman

with his custom-designed catch.

I think of different common names for each fish variety

as I paint. I will make the final details to match the fish type

and paint their names alongside. One is going to be a "Green Glove" for example.

The mottled background used up the end-of-the-day oil paint

for a medium value.

The darkest elements will be the original bold line drawing.

I rubbed out the first draft so there

was underpainting and palette knife texture

to guide me.

One of my favorite parts:

I've been looking at antique

Edwardian style jewelry on line.

Lots of delicate platinum and diamond

foliate forms are inspiring.

Back in the studio

after my 2 day break.

When I squeeze out oils, I use the remainder

on my palette to start new paintings.

I'm working on 3 now, as you shall see.
