SUN, RAIN, SUN

THIS COLLAGE is titled, and inspired by our local weather in the Florida Keys. The summer month's weather can change very quickly; in fact the very roadway that services our islands plays a part in the air/ heat convections that encourage quick growth of rain clouds. The showers can be spotty and it's not too unusual to see rain at the end of the block while we're still dry at the front door. Hurricane season starts June 1st.

Someone asked about the copper 'posts' in the collage. They are foam-core rectangles wrapped with copper foil on which I had drawn designs (embossed) and then patinated. The acrylic-sealed elements were then affixed with archival adhesives. That's type correction film for the water rings splashing about....

ONCE AGAIN...

THE SWIRLS above the figure are lines of an acrylic monoprint.

DETAILS

I WANT TO SHOW some details of the collage and the mediums used. The raindrops are copper foil which I have embossed and gilded with 23 carat gold. Their points are folded over silvered threads and hang in the sky. My new camera did pretty well shooting through the acrylic glazing on the framed painting, BUT the two white dots are gallery lighting reflections.

SUN RAIN, SUN

THIS WORK uses a bunch of different techniques. I 've photographed the work which is under glazing and hanging in the studio. A little glare but you can see many techniques and materials.
