CHRISTMAS CARD?

This might be suitable
for this year's Christmas card.

Yesterday I laid in patches of yellow.
Most of the painting was done with a
rough little brush, as you see.

Oil on collage.
9 x 12 inches.
There's gold to be added
and I'll call it
"Star Basket."

COLLAGE PAPERS: PRINTING ON DELI-WRAP

THE RUBBER BLOCKS
are getting a nice look:
a studio artifact.

You can print on the deli-wrap
in traditional relief technique using acrylic paints.
I cleaned out my nearly spent Liquetex tubes/jars.

Or you can do a crude intaglio process by
forcing the acrylic paint down into the grooves
(I use a credit card)
and pressing deli wrap into the grooves with a clean credit card.
I thinned the paints with gloss medium.

I have a desk-top file called
"CALLIGRAPHY."
I'll save this altered image of the block in it.

Key West Food and Wine Festival 2014

By invitation: I'm submitting this image
for
The organization creates a poster for the popular event.

January 22nd through the 26th, 2014.
We'll see lots of cooks, foodies and gourmands
lining up for special tastes from the keys' talented chefs
and far-flung vintners.

The sun is sipping red wine;
a pinot noir for my taste.

Light in red wine:

The 16 x 20 image
is acrylic on collage
of printed paper from my own blocks.

A close-up:

The little zippy white parts
are type correction film transfers.

Breast Enhancement....

One of my gallery partners
requested
"YELLOW STRAW"
in a larger format measuring
22 X 28 inches.
The 11 x 14 inch version is the same size as the original oil.

NU-PASTEL

A well-meaning friend gifted me with an ancient box of hard NU"PASTEL color sticks.
I knew I had to have a textured working surface.
I painted acid -free foam core with a mixture of
Liquitex neutral gray and clear gesso.
The later makes a gritty working surface.

That morning, I had stopped off at neighbor Maggie's studio where she
had been working with stencils. After she fed me breakfast (thanks!)
I headed in to work at the studio.

I found a whole bunch of stencils I had cut from Bristol paper
and textured some of the panels with definite patterns.
Geometric or florid, I think they might peek through whatever I create
if I scrape the painted surface a little.

The surface takes the pastel well enough.
Started this to see; I've never worked with these sticks before.

Messy stuff, but interesting. A shot down Smathers Beach of a wedding party.

"HEAVEN"

Waiting today for a new client
at the studio
I taped off a rectangle
on Arches watercolor paper
and doodled some hounds
with all the tennis balls they could handle.
And that's watercolor on top of acrylic gesso.
