THIS CONTENT GENIE
looks like he's stuck in
a Tanqueray bottle
or
a bottle of
Bombay Saphire.
Illustration Friday's word is 'influence.'
It's a painting with
an interesting texture.
The background is alkyd oil.
I pressed a hard pencil onto the dry surface
to draw the genie (jinn) and
describe the bottle's shape.
The I masked off the simple shape
and rubbed oil pastel over
the depressed design.
THEN
gouache is flowed into the
drawing's grooves.
after fixing I
give him an exotic locale
with a
23 carat gold minaret/parrapet
combo.
Here's a close-up of
black and orange and white gouache
on the oil pastel surface.
all on rag board.
8.5 X 10.5 inches.
Really nice! Could Jinn also be under the influence of Klee? Thanks for sharing a glimpse into your technique! :o)
ReplyDeleteYup...I was so surprised to see my first KLEE. Mainly because of its (lack of) size: a weensy little thing at The Mert.
ReplyDeleteI really like your style- it has so much texture and depth. You have tons of great images on your blog!
ReplyDeleteHello, Pretty Day
ReplyDeleteI grew up learning watercolor; that's what Dad taught. And when I had my first gallery/boutique I became involved with printmaking and (selling) international folk art. That's in the '70's and that's when all the pattern and texture starts to creep in.
I like your simple 'SONG BIRD.'
