MOSAIC PROJECT

"DOGGIE BAR" is alkyd oil on canvas and is a more permanent
rendition of the paper signs I hang over studio's sidewalk dish.

NICELY FRAMED...

The frame was painted first
so I needed to make a royal hound to fill it.

She was just going to be
"QUEEN MUTT"
but couldn't resist the pun
and adding "ER" or Elizabeth Regina.

I just paint and let the composition emerge.
This one is nearly a four-paned window on a marsh, isn't it?
The repetition of 2 yellow color blocks
and the sail shape (diagonals) help break the grid.
This painting was just delivered to my neighbors' wunder-house;
it couldn't be in a nicer, friendlier home.

I rubbed out the first draft so there
was underpainting and palette knife texture
to guide me.
One of my favorite parts:
I've been looking at antique
Edwardian style jewelry on line.
Lots of delicate platinum and diamond
foliate forms are inspiring.

ANIMAL magnetism......
in Key West is on pedestrian-friendly
Simonton Street.
This is one of the prettiest ones, Lily by name.
She has just come from morning coffee.
There are many fine B and B's
on Simonton with fine guests, too.
One pair are returning home with an anniversary
present to themselves: an chipped but abandoned tuxedo kitty
who stole their hearts.
He'll get a forever home with a new tuxedo brother. Cool.
