Graham Rust

Work is new to me, here in the U.S.
He is one of the world's most respected muralist and designers.
The oculus above is one of his designs for a ceiling.

I picked up some of his delightful books on Amazon.
My day-off is turning into a shopping day.

Bed races in Key West

I thought it was unusually quiet
at my studio yesterday.

CLICK: Everyone was here. A few blocks away.

This race features the Bedweiser stallions;
who really had their act together.
I hope they were handicapped by their boots.

Weather-wise it was mid-80's. It seems that the sky has been
especially blue lately.

Margaritaville's "Parrot Head"

"PARROT HEAD"
may now be seen on the Margaritaville web catalog.

Original sold. 16 x 20 oil on panel.

I pulled it from its display at
FRANGIPANI GALLERY for
exhibition at a group show at the Art Center.
It was in my studio for 20 minutes until
a couple from New Hampshire spotted it.

Now, I will have to show something else.
I think a big genie.....

"TRANCE"

THIS
oil on panel of a dog and seductive
tennis ball is off to its new home
after display at
FRANGIPANI GALLERY
in Key West.

16 x 20 inches.
The collectors also added my "HOME" to the shipment.

HOT TOOTSIES

BUDDY
had hot feet from Simonton's sidewalks.

So he stopped at my studio for a drink and a bathe.

Really a cute little guy and friendly, funny owners.

Golden link....

A third assemblage
with a landscape orientation
and
a more of a landscape itself.
Trees, house-forms and leaves
with a thread-wrapped sky of blue at right.

The last touch was the borrowing of a leaf motif
from another in the series.

I drew it in 23 carat gold to borrow the texture and sheen as well.

LANDSCAPE ASSEMBLAGE

Architectural assemblage
indicating a portal.

Copper foil, gold, thread, acrylic
on foam-core board.

ASSEMBLAGE DETAILS...

Draw on the copper foil and flip it over to reveal embossing.

A darker patina looks good over a sliver of 23 carat gold.

ASSEMBLAGE and details....

I have filled these simple bamboo frames
with assemblages of
archival foam-core shapes.
Some of the elements are wrapped with copper
which I have embossed and patinated.

Some parts are painted and gilded.

Some are wrapped in linen thread after painting.
