"CLOUD MOUNTAIN" collage series

"CLOUD MOUNTAIN"

Fourth in
a series of 4 collages.
I've been thinking about this group's parts at night.
I wanted the brushwork to be
subordinate to the strong collage contrasts.
Searched for (and found by studio excavation) my good gouache pigments
to put down the gray birds.
Cloud swirls and bright whites
are type correction film.

These are in double rag mats; 11 x 14 inch format.
I think I've found the perfect frame stock for these, and ordered a quartet.

Our newest friend
TULIP.
She has been with us two weeks.
She has never lived in a home:  just a crate.
She's happy, sweet and smart.

"REVERSE SUSHI"

THIS
is my 4th or 5th depiction of the subject.
THIS
time it's painted in oil and on an antique, bevelled board
(drawer bottom?) which is very hard and textural.
THIS
painting measures a slightly irregular
10.5 X 16.5 inches.
Mounted in a gold, 'floater' frame to expose the edges.

Simple...

A more complicated collage with the "last post's techniques.
About nine inches square.

But I've stamped some letter forms here
and
added another layer of metal collage.

The 23 carat gold is applied to copper foil
onto which I had drawn freehand scrolls.

The little white hearts are drawn with typo correction film.

"THE FRIENDLY SKIES"

TWO
weights of paper on top of the foil.
the heaviest is the green butterfly
upper right.

And below...

Bye, bye!

"SILVER SPRING"

WORKING
with the butterflies I cut out last summer.
Here they are collaged onto odd squares of
rag mat board.
I wrapped them in aluminum foil
and burnished them with a palette knife
dipped in gesso.

A little extra color is added with tissue collage.
Acrylic medium over all.

Key West is pretty dog friendly.
We have a dachshund parade around the block
near our gallery
on New Year's Eve Day.

The SECRET to meeting girls is the little "chick magnet."
The chihuahua catches the beach breeze.

This is oil on paper collage on acrylic panel.
16 X 20.
